The Siemens S55 is a classic mobile phone released in late 2002. It was a flagship device for the Siemens Mobile division, known for its Bluetooth capabilities and the ability to connect an external camera. The brand originated in Germany, founded by Werner von Siemens in 1847.
Historically, these devices were manufactured primarily at Siemens' own production facilities in Germany, particularly in Kamp-Lintfort. In 2005, Siemens sold its struggling mobile phone division to the Taiwanese company BenQ, which later became BenQ-Siemens. However, that venture eventually went bankrupt. Today, while the 'Siemens' brand remains a global powerhouse in industrial engineering and technology, it no longer produces mobile phones, making this a legacy electronic product.
