Marabou is one of Sweden's most iconic brands, originally established in 1916 by Norwegian chocolatier Johan Throne Holst. While it remains a cultural staple in Sweden, production has largely shifted out of the country as part of global supply chain optimization. Today, much of the Marabou chocolate line is manufactured in Poland at regional production hubs.
The brand is owned by Mondelez International, an American multi-national food and beverage giant. Despite its American ownership and international manufacturing, Marabou maintains a strong Swedish identity and continues to be marketed heavily as Sweden's favorite chocolate. The Premium range specifically targets the dark chocolate segment with high cocoa content.
