Atomic is one of the world's most prestigious manufacturers of ski equipment. Founded in 1955 by Alois Rohrmoser in Wagrain, Austria, the company began as a small workshop producing handcrafted wooden skis. Over the decades, it evolved into a global leader in professional racing, alpine trekking, and cross-country skiing equipment.
While the brand holds deep Austrian roots and maintains its primary research, development, and high-end manufacturing facilities in Altenmarkt, Austria, it is part of a larger international conglomerate. Since 1994, Atomic has been part of the Amer Sports group. This partnership has allowed Atomic to expand its technological capabilities and market reach while remaining committed to high-performance craftsmanship.
Amer Sports, the parent company, was historically Finnish but underwent a major acquisition in 2019. It is now owned by an international consortium led by the Chinese company Anta Sports. Despite these global shifts in ownership, Atomic continues to be managed with a focus on its Austrian heritage and remains a dominant force in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup.
