Ray-Ban is one of the most iconic eyewear brands in the world, founded in 1936 by Bausch & Lomb. The brand became famous for its Aviator and Wayfarer styles, which have been cultural staples for decades. While originally an American brand, Ray-Ban was acquired by the Italian eyewear giant Luxottica in 1999.
Today, Ray-Ban products are manufactured in several locations, primarily in Italy and China. High-end and traditional models are often produced in Italy, while other segments of the collection are manufactured in Luxottica's state-of-the-art facilities in China to meet global demand. Regardless of the country of assembly, the brand maintains strict quality control standards. Ownership currently sits with EssilorLuxottica, the world's largest eyewear company, following the 2018 merger between the French lens manufacturer Essilor and the Italian frame maker Luxottica.
