Finsbury London Dry Gin is a brand steeped in historical tradition, tracing its origins back to 1740 when it was founded by Joseph Bishop in London. The brand takes its name from the Finsbury area of London, which was historically known for its clear spring water, an essential ingredient for high-quality distillation. For generations, the Bishop family maintained the secret recipe, which utilizes an array of botanicals distilled in copper pot stills.
Despite its British heritage and traditional London Dry Gin designation, the modern production and ownership of the brand have transitioned to Germany. In the late 20th century, the brand was acquired by BORCO-MARKEN-IMPORT, a prominent German spirits company. In 2023, independent spirits giant Stock Spirits Group acquired BORCO, bringing Finsbury Gin into its extensive international portfolio. Today, the gin remains a popular choice across Europe, produced under strict quality standards in Germany while maintaining its classic 18th-century recipe.
