Orangina is an iconic carbonated citrus beverage widely recognized for its high juice content and real orange pulp. Originally developed in French Algeria by Spanish chemist Dr. Trigo in 1933, the brand was later refined and popularized by French businessman Léon Beton. It has since become a staple of French culture, often identified by its signature round-shaped bottles and the requirement to 'shake it' before consumption to mix the pulp.
Today, the ownership of Orangina is split geographically. In most of Europe and several international markets, the brand is owned by the Suntory Group, a Japanese multinational conglomerate that acquired Orangina Schweppes in 2009. However, in North America, the brand is owned by Keurig Dr Pepper. The manufacturing of Orangina primarily takes place in France for the European market, with various regional bottlers handling production in other territories to maintain its global presence.
