Cocio is a classic Danish brand of chocolate milk originally founded in 1951 in Esbjerg. The brand is renowned for its simple recipe, traditionally consisting of just milk, cocoa, and sugar, and for its unique heat-treatment process that gives the drink its signature taste and long shelf life.
While the brand was founded by the Hvitved family, it was subsequently acquired by Arla Foods, a large European dairy cooperative. Today, Cocio remains a domestic staple in Denmark and is produced at Arla's dedicated production facilities in Esbjerg, Denmark. The ownership by Arla Foods ensures that the brand has a wide distribution network across Scandinavia and northern Europe, while maintaining its heritage as an iconic Danish beverage.
