Method is a popular brand of household cleaning products known for its commitment to plant-based ingredients and modern packaging design. The brand was originally founded in San Francisco, California, in 2000 by Eric Ryan and Adam Lowry. It gained significant attention for its mission to create non-toxic cleaners that were both effective and aesthetically pleasing for the home environment.
Over the years, Method underwent significant ownership changes. In 2012, it was acquired by the Belgian eco-friendly cleaning company Ecover. Subsequently, in 2017, S. C. Johnson & Son, an American multinational chemical and consumer goods manufacturer, acquired both Method and Ecover. Today, Method operates as a subsidiary of S. C. Johnson. While the brand has global distribution, its manufacturing occurs in various locations, including a LEED-certified factory in Chicago known as the 'South Side Soapbox,' as well as facilities in Europe and elsewhere to serve regional markets.
