Hisense is a globally recognized multinational electronics and home appliance manufacturer. Originally founded in 1969 as the Qingdao No. 2 Radio Factory in China, the company underwent significant modernization in the 1990s and was renamed Hisense Group in 1994. Today, it stands as one of the world's largest manufacturers of televisions and major household appliances.

While the company remains headquartered in Qingdao, China, its manufacturing footprint is truly global to support its presence in over 160 countries. Hisense operates at least 14 industrial parks and 18 R&D centers worldwide. While the majority of its products are still manufactured in China (particularly in Shandong and Zhejiang provinces), the brand has strategically established major manufacturing facilities in Mexico, South Africa, and the Czech Republic to serve regional markets in the Americas, Africa, and Europe respectively.

Ownership of Hisense has evolved from a purely state-owned model to a mixed-ownership structure. As of 2026, the ultimate beneficial owner is the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the Qingdao Municipal Government, which holds a controlling stake through Hisense Group Holdings. The company also operates through several publicly listed subsidiaries, such as Hisense Visual Technology and Hisense Home Appliances, which allow for broader investment from public and international stakeholders.
