Kerrygold is the leading international brand for Irish dairy products, most famous for its rich, golden butter and artisanal cheeses. The brand was established in 1962 by the Irish Dairy Board (now known as Ornua) with the goal of creating a premium identity for Irish dairy exports. The distinctive yellow color and creamy texture of the products are attributed to the grass-fed diet of Irish dairy cows, which graze on lush pastures for the majority of the year.

While the brand has a massive global presence, especially in the United States and Germany, its manufacturing remains deeply rooted in Ireland. Most production takes place at Kerrygold Park, a state-of-the-art butter packing and processing facility in Mitchelstown, County Cork, which ensures that the milk from over 14,000 Irish farming families is transformed into the high-quality products sold worldwide.

Kerrygold is owned by Ornua Co-operative Limited, an Irish dairy cooperative that markets and sells dairy products on behalf of its members—Irish dairy processors and Irish dairy farmers. This structure allows the profits from the brand to be returned to the local Irish agricultural community, maintaining Kerrygold’s status as a quintessential Irish national treasure.
