Oreo O's is a breakfast cereal consisting of O-shaped chocolate bits with a creme-flavored coating. Originally launched in 1997, it was the result of a co-branding collaboration between Post Cereals and Kraft Foods. Following the corporate split of Kraft Foods, the branding rights were divided, making the product's history and manufacturing quite unique.
In the United States and Canada, the cereal is produced and marketed by Post Consumer Brands. Due to the separation of Post and Kraft (the owner of the Oreo brand), the product was actually discontinued in most of North America for a decade between 2007 and 2017 while licensing agreements were renegotiated. During this time, South Korea became the only country where the cereal remained in production via Dongsuh Foods.
Today, the cereal is widely available again. While Post Cereals handles the manufacturing and distribution in North America, Mondelez International maintains the ultimate global ownership of the Oreo trademark itself. Manufacturing occurs in multiple facilities across North America, Europe, and Asia to satisfy regional demand.
