Call of Duty

Call of Duty is a globally recognized first-person shooter video game franchise that first launched in 2003. Originally focusing on games set in World War II, the series has since expanded into modern, futuristic, and cold war settings, becoming one of the best-selling video game series of all time.

The franchise was created by the American gaming studio Infinity Ward and published by Activision. Over the years, development has transitioned to a multi-studio cycle involving Various North American and European developers such as Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software. While the software is primarily coded in the United States and Canada, the physical manufacturing of game discs and hardware-related components takes place in various logistics hubs globally.

Following a landmark acquisition completed in late 2023, the brand is now owned by Microsoft through its gaming division, Xbox Game Studios. This acquisition shifted the brand from Activision Blizzard's independent control to being part of Microsoft's broader technology and entertainment portfolio, headquartered in Redmond, Washington.
