Fresh Persimmon fruit

Persimmons are edible fruits derived from trees in the genus Diospyros. While they are grown globally, China, South Korea, and Japan are the largest historical producers. In western markets, commercial varieties like the Fuyu or Hachiya are also commonly sourced from Spain, Israel, and the United States (California).

As a raw agricultural product, it is not owned by a single brand or corporation. It is typically sold as unbranded produce or under various regional distributor labels depending on the supermarket chain. The fruit is prized for its high tannin content when unripe and its honey-like sweetness when fully mature.
