Central Lechera Asturiana is one of Spain's most iconic dairy brands, originating from the region of Asturias in the north of the country. Founded in the late 1960s as a cooperative of local farmers, the brand is famously owned by the Central Lechera Asturiana SAT (Sociedad Agraria de Transformación). Its primary mission was to defend the interests of local livestock farmers by ensuring a fair price for their milk production.
Today, the brand operates under the umbrella of CAPSA Food (Corporación Alimentaria Peñasanta, S.A.), which remains majority-owned by the original Asturian farmers' cooperative. The product is manufactured and packaged in Spain, primarily at facilities in Asturias such as the Granda plant in Siero. The brand emphasizes its natural origins, using 100% Spanish milk sourced from local farms, maintaining its legacy as a cooperative-driven enterprise even as it competes internationally.
