Kikkoman Traditionally Brewed Soy Sauce is a staple of Asian cuisine, renowned for its deep, savory umami flavor achieved through a natural fermentation process. The brand traces its roots back to 17th-century Japan, where eight families combined their resources to form what would become one of the most recognizable food companies in the world.
While the brand is deeply Japanese in origin, it has a significant global manufacturing footprint. To meet demand in the North American market, Kikkoman established its first overseas production facility in Walworth, Wisconsin, in 1973. Today, the product is primarily produced in Japan, the United States, and several other locations worldwide including Singapore and the Netherlands to serve local markets.
Kikkoman Corporation remains an independent Japanese company headquartered in Noda, Chiba Prefecture. It continues to operate as the world's leading producer of soy sauce, managing its international distribution through various regional subsidiaries such as Kikkoman Sales USA, Inc. for the North American region.
