Burton Snowboards is the pioneer of the snowboarding industry, founded in Vermont, USA, in 1977. The brand is credited with transforming snowboarding from a backyard hobby into a world-class competitive sport through innovative design and high-performance engineering.

While the company’s roots are firmly planted in the Green Mountains of Vermont, its manufacturing operations are global. High-end snowboards and specialized prototypes are often developed at Craig’s (the company's state-of-the-art facility in Burlington, Vermont), while mass production of boards, softgoods, and outerwear takes place in various countries, including Austria, China, and Vietnam.

Burton remains a privately held family business. Following the passing of founder Jake Burton Carpenter, the company continues to be owned by the Carpenter family, maintaining its independence from large global conglomerates.
