Rossignol is a world-renowned French manufacturer of alpine, Nordic, and snowboard equipment, as well as related outerwear and accessories. Founded in 1907 by Abel Rossignol in Voiron, France, the brand started as a passion project by a dedicated skier and carpenter who crafted some of the first solid wood skis. Over the decades, Rossignol became a powerhouse in professional racing, famously associated with numerous Olympic champions.
While the brand maintains its soul and historical roots in the French Alps, its manufacturing footprint is international. High-end skis are often produced in its historic Sallanches factory in France, while other components and lines are manufactured in Romania and other European hubs. This blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern industrial efficiency allows Rossignol to remain a leader in the global winter sports market.
Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several hands, including a notable period under Quiksilver. Since 2013, the brand has been under the ultimate ownership of Rossignol Group, which is backed by the private equity firm Alantra (formerly N+1). The group continues to expand its reach into lifestyle apparel and mountain biking, ensuring the brand remains relevant year-round beyond the snowy slopes.
