Green & Black's is a premium chocolate brand renowned for its commitment to organic and fair-trade ingredients. Founded in 1991 by Craig Sams and Jo Fairley in London, the brand quickly became a pioneer in the ethical confectionery market. The name reflects the founders' values: 'Green' signifies their organic commitment, and 'Black' represents the high cocoa content of their flagship dark chocolate.
While the brand was founded in the United Kingdom, its manufacturing footprint is international to accommodate global supply chains. Currently, much of the chocolate production for the European and British markets occurs in Italy and Poland. In 2005, the brand was acquired by Cadbury, which was subsequently bought by the American multinational Kraft Foods. Today, Green & Black's is a core brand under Mondelēz International, which continues to position it as a premium, ethically sourced chocolate alternative.
