After Eight is a world-renowned brand of mint chocolate thins, originally created by Rowntree & Co. Ltd. in the United Kingdom in 1962. It was designed as an 'after-dinner' mint, symbolizing sophisticated hospitality. The brand is famous for its dark chocolate squares filled with peppermint cream, though it has since expanded into various flavor profiles like the Orange & Mint variety shown here.
In 1988, the Swiss multinational Nestlé S.A. acquired Rowntree, bringing After Eight into its extensive portfolio of confectionery brands. While the brand has British roots, the production for the European market is now largely concentrated in Halifax, UK, and Hamburg, Germany. Nestlé remains the ultimate owner, managing the brand from its global headquarters in Switzerland and distributing it through local subsidiaries across the globe.
