Lindt & Sprüngli is a world-renowned Swiss chocolatier with roots dating back to 1845. The brand originated in Zurich, Switzerland, when David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his son, Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann, produced the first solid bar of chocolate in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. Later, the acquisition of Rodolphe Lindt's chocolate factory in 1899, including the secret conching process, revolutionized the industry.
Today, Lindt maintains a complex global manufacturing network. While its premium chocolate bars are heavily produced in Kilchberg, Switzerland, the company also operates major production facilities in Germany, France, Italy, Austria, and the United States to serve global demand. Ownership remains with the public limited company Lindt & Sprüngli AG, which continues to be headquartered in Switzerland, ensuring the legacy of Swiss chocolate mastery remains true to its origin.
