Moncler is a globally recognized luxury fashion brand with deep roots in alpine heritage. Originally founded in 1952 in the mountains of Monestier-de-Clermont, France, the brand initially focused on technical mountain gear like sleeping bags and tents. It gained worldwide fame for its down jackets, which were used by expeditions and the French national downhill skiing team in the 1968 Winter Olympics.
In 2003, the brand was acquired by Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini, who transformed the utilitarian brand into a global luxury fashion powerhouse. While the brand carries French historical significance, it is now an Italian-managed company headquartered in Milan. Manufacturing is decentralized across several European countries, primarily in Romania, Italy, and Hungary, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and technical performance.
Today, Moncler S.p.A. is a publicly traded company on the Borsa Italiana. Under Ruffini’s leadership, the brand has expanded beyond outerwear into diverse luxury segments, including the high-concept 'Moncler Genius' collaborations and the acquisition of Stone Island, further solidifying its position in the premium streetwear and luxury markets.
