The McLaren Solus GT is a track-only hypercar produced by the British automotive manufacturer McLaren Automotive. First unveiled in 2022, the Solus GT is a real-world realization of a futuristic concept car originally designed for the Gran Turismo Sport video game. It represents a limited-production run, with only 25 units built, each powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine.
Founded in 2010 as a spin-off from McLaren Group, McLaren Automotive is based at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England. The brand is renowned for incorporating Formula 1 technologies into its performance-focused road and track vehicles. Ownership of the brand and the wider McLaren Group has undergone significant changes in recent years, with a focus on long-term luxury automotive growth.
As of 2024, the ultimate ownership of McLaren Group resides with Mumtalakat, the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain. After a series of recapitalizations, Mumtalakat took full control of the entity to stabilize and fund future innovation in the supercar market. Despite the international ownership, McLaren maintains its heritage and primary production facilities within the United Kingdom.
