Quaker Oats is one of the world's most recognizable food brands, with roots dating back to the 19th century in the United States. The brand was officially established in 1877 when the Quaker mill in Ravenna, Ohio, was registered with the U.S. Patent Office. It was founded by Henry Parsons Crowell, who purchased the bankrupt Quaker Mill Company and transformed it into a global household name through innovative marketing and product consistency. The brand logo, featuring the iconic 'Quaker man,' was chosen to represent values of integrity, honesty, and purity.
In 2001, the Quaker Oats Company was acquired by PepsiCo in a multi-billion dollar merger. Today, PepsiCo remains the ultimate owner and global manager of the brand. In the Netherlands and Belgium (as indicated by the Dutch and French bilingual packaging in the image), the brand is distributed through PepsiCo's regional subsidiaries. This corporate structure allows Quaker to leverage PepsiCo's vast supply chain and research capabilities while maintaining its heritage as a trusted source of breakfast cereals and healthy snacks.
Quaker Havermout (Rolled Oats) is produced in several locations globally to meet local demand. For the European market, PepsiCo operates a significant manufacturing facility in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, which processes oats for much of the Benelux region. However, raw oats are sourced from various agricultural hubs, making the origin of the finished product a result of cross-border collaboration within PepsiCo's international manufacturing network.
