Valve Corporation is a titan in the gaming industry, founded in the late 1990s by two former Microsoft employees. While best known for its Steam digital distribution platform and legendary software titles, the company has expanded significantly into high-end hardware, including the Steam Deck and VR gear.

Hardware manufacturing for Valve products is largely outsourced to electronics assembly giants in China, a standard practice for complex tech devices. However, some specialized production lines, most notably for the Valve Index and earlier Steam Controller units, have historically featured manufacturing or final assembly stages within the United States.

Ownership of Valve remains highly unique in the tech sector. Unlike its major competitors, Valve is a private, independent company. It is not owned by a larger conglomerate or investment group, with founder Gabe Newell retaining a majority stake, ensuring the company operates outside the pressures of public stock markets.
