Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major corporations over the decades, including Pillsbury and TPG Capital, before being acquired by 3G Capital.

Since 2014, Burger King has been a key subsidiary of Restaurant Brands International (RBI), which was formed following a merger with the Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons. RBI is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and oversees the strategic direction, global expansion, and brand identity of Burger King alongside sisters brands like Popeyes and Firehouse Subs.
