Garoto is one of the most iconic Brazilian chocolate brands, founded in 1929 by German immigrant Heinrich Meyerfreund in Vila Velha, Espírito Santo. The brand is famously recognized for its yellow packaging and its wide variety of chocolate bars and bonbons, such as the 'Crocante' line shown in the image, which features milk chocolate with peanut brittle pieces.
In 2002, Nestlé acquired Chocolates Garoto, which led to a lengthy legal battle with Brazilian antitrust regulators that lasted over two decades before being fully settled. Today, Garoto operates as a key brand within Nestlé's global portfolio, maintaining its primary production facility in Vila Velha, Brazil, which is one of the largest chocolate factories in the Southern Hemisphere.
