rOtring is a German technical writing and drawing instruments brand founded in 1928 as Tintenkuli Handels GmbH. The brand is globally recognized for its 'Red Ring' (rot ring) on the barrel of its pens, which became its official name and logo. It gained legendary status among architects and designers with the introduction of the Isograph and Rapidograph technical pens.

While the brand's engineering heritage is rooted in Hamburg, Germany, its ownership and production have shifted over the decades. In 1998, rOtring was acquired by the American conglomerate Newell Brands. Today, much of the high-end manufacturing, particularly for its iconic mechanical pencils like the 600 and 800 series, takes place in Japan to leverage specialized precision engineering, while some components and professional inks continue to be sourced or made in Germany.
