Darlie Toothpaste

Darlie, originally known as Darkie, is a well-established brand of oral care products. The brand was founded in Shanghai in the 1930s by the Hawley & Hazel Chemical Company. It became highly popular in the Asian market due to its distinct, strong mint flavoring.

In 1985, the American multinational Colgate-Palmolive acquired a 50% stake in Hawley & Hazel. Following this acquisition, the brand underwent a significant rebranding in the late 1980s, changing its name to Darlie and updating its logo to address racial sensitivity concerns. Today, the brand is managed through a joint venture between Colgate-Palmolive and Hawley & Hazel, with manufacturing hubs located in China and Thailand to serve the global market.
