Ecover is a pioneering brand in the ecological cleaning industry, founded in 1979 in Malle, Belgium. The company was established with the mission to create phosphate-free cleaning products long before environmental impact became a mainstream concern. Today, Ecover is widely recognized for its use of plant-based and mineral ingredients, as well as its commitment to sustainable packaging.

In 2012, Ecover acquired the American ecological cleaning brand Method. However, in 2017, the combined Ecover and Method company (known as People Against Dirty) was acquired by the American multinational SC Johnson. While Ecover maintains its core research and production facilities in Belgium, particularly its flagship ecological factory in Malle, it operates as part of the broader SC Johnson portfolio, headquartered in the United States.
