Trapa is one of Spain's most iconic chocolate brands, with a history dating back to 1891 when Cistercian monks at the San Isidro de Dueñas monastery in Palencia began crafting artisanal chocolates. For over a century, the brand has been synonymous with Spanish confectionery tradition, particularly known for its 'Cortados' and bonbons.
In 2013, the brand underwent a significant transformation when it was acquired by the Europraliné group. Under the leadership of the Fernández Calvo family, the company heavily invested in modernizing its production facilities in San Isidro de Dueñas. Today, Trapa remains a 100% Spanish-owned company, manufacturing all its products locally in Palencia and exporting them to over 50 countries, combining traditional recipes with contemporary sustainability standards like palm-oil-free production.
