Rao's Homemade is a premium food brand that traces its heritage back to the legendary Rao's restaurant in East Harlem, New York, which opened in 1896. The brand was officially launched to bring the restaurant's authentic Italian sauces to a wider audience, emphasizing high-quality ingredients and traditional slow-cooking methods without added sugars or artificial colors.
While the brand's heart is in New York and many of its signature marinara sauces are produced in Italy to maintain authentic flavor profiles, the manufacturing footprint has expanded to meet global demand. Following several years of rapid growth under Sovos Brands, the brand reached a major milestone in March 2024 when it was officially acquired by Campbell Soup Company. This acquisition has integrated the artisanal brand into one of the world's largest food conglomerates, ensuring widespread distribution while the company maintains the brand's commitment to premium, traditionally crafted recipes.
