Morrisons fuel is a major retail petrol brand in the United Kingdom, associated with the supermarket chain Wm Morrison Supermarkets Limited. While the brand has its roots in traditional British supermarket retail dating back to the late 19th century, its fuel operations have undergone significant ownership changes in recent years as part of a broader corporate restructuring.
The fuel is primarily refined and supplied within the United Kingdom through various domestic refineries and distribution networks. In early 2024, Morrisons completed a major deal to sell its petrol forecourts to the Motor Fuel Group (MFG), though the sites maintain the Morrisons branding under a long-term commercial agreement. This move was intended to help the company focus on its core grocery business while leveraging MFG's expertise in forecourt management.
Today, the ultimate ownership of the Morrisons brand and its operations lies with the American private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R), which acquired the supermarket chain in 2021. This transition shifted the brand from a publicly traded British company to a private entity owned by US-based investors. Despite the shift in corporate ownership, the brand remains a staple of the British daily commute.
