The Chrysler Pacifica is a prominent minivan that represents the modern evolution of the family vehicle. Originally introduced as a mid-size crossover in the early 2000s, the nameplate was successfully transitioned to Chrysler's flagship minivan in 2017 to replace the Town & Country. The brand is deeply rooted in American automotive history, having been founded by Walter Chrysler in 1925 in Detroit, Michigan.
Today, the Pacifica is primarily manufactured at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada, where it has been built since its relaunch as a minivan. This facility is known for its high-tech production capabilities, specifically for the Pacifica's hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, which marked a significant milestone as the first of their kind in the minivan segment.
Ownership of the Chrysler brand has undergone several major shifts over the decades. Following a merger with Fiat to form Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), the brand became part of Stellantis N.V. in 2021. Stellantis is a global automotive giant formed by the merger of FCA and the French PSA Group. Despite its international corporate ownership based in the Netherlands, Chrysler remains a quintessential American brand under the Stellantis North America umbrella.
