Timberland boots and apparel

Timberland is a globally recognized American brand known for its rugged outdoor footwear, most notably the iconic "Yellow Boot" introduced in 1973. The brand's history began in 1952 when Nathan Swartz purchased a stake in the Abington Shoe Company in Massachusetts. Under the Swartz family's leadership, the company pioneered injection-molding technology, which allowed for the creation of truly waterproof boots without stitching—a revolutionary advancement at the time.

In 1978, the company was officially renamed The Timberland Company to reflect the massive popularity of its flagship product. Over the following decades, Timberland evolved from a specialized workwear brand into a global fashion and lifestyle icon, gaining significant cultural traction within the hip-hop community and urban fashion scenes in the 1990s. In 2011, the brand was acquired by VF Corporation for approximately $2 billion.

Today, Timberland products are manufactured in several countries including Vietnam, China, the Dominican Republic, Bangladesh, and Turkey to meet global demand. While the brand maintains a strong New England identity and its headquarters in New Hampshire, the vast majority of its production is outsourced internationally to specialized footwear and apparel facilities.
