Quechua is a high-performance outdoor brand founded in 1997 in the French Alps. Specifically created by the Decathlon Group, the brand's name is inspired by the Quechua people of the Andes. The brand's headquarters and design center are located at the foot of Mont Blanc in France, where they develop equipment for hiking, trekking, and mountain sports.

While design occurs in France, manufacturing is distributed across Decathlon's global supply chain in countries such as China, Vietnam, India, and Turkey to maintain competitive pricing. Decathlon, the parent company, remains one of the largest sporting goods retailers globally and is owned by the Association Familiale Mulliez.
