Gevalia Ground Coffee

Gevalia is a renowned coffee brand that originated in Gävle, Sweden, in 1853. Founded by Victor Theodor Engwall, it initially started as a small family trading business and eventually specialized in importing and roasting coffee beans. For over 150 years, Gevalia has been synonymous with Swedish coffee culture, maintaining its primary production facility in Gävle, which remains one of the largest coffee roasteries in Scandinavia.

Today, the brand is owned by JDE Peet's, a Dutch-American company that is a global leader in the coffee and tea industry. JDE Peet's was formed through the merger of Jacobs Douwe Egberts and Peet's Coffee. Despite being part of a multinational conglomerate, Gevalia retains its Swedish heritage and continues to manufacture its products for the Nordic market locally in Sweden, ensuring the traditional 'Swedish' profile of the coffee beans is preserved.
