Wasa is a historic Swedish brand founded in 1919 by Karl Edvard Lundström in Skellefteå. It has grown to become the world's largest producer of crispbread, known for its traditional Scandinavian recipes. The brand was originally established as 'Svenska Knäckebrödsaktiebolaget' before adopting the iconic Wasa name.
Today, the products are primarily manufactured in Sweden (Filipstad) and Germany (Celle). While the brand remains deeply rooted in Swedish culture, it was acquired by the Italian global food giant Barilla Group in 1999. Since then, Barilla has managed the global distribution and production of Wasa, maintaining its position as a market leader in the healthy snack and bakery category.
