Brastemp is a renowned Brazilian brand of major appliances, established in 1954 in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo. The brand was created through a partnership between the Chrysler Corporation and the Brazilian company Brasmotor. Brastemp is widely recognized in Brazil for its innovation and quality, famously coined in the 1990s slogan 'Não é uma Brastemp' (It's not a Brastemp), which became a common cultural expression meaning something isn't of the highest quality.
Today, Brastemp belongs to Whirlpool Latin America, a subsidiary of Whirlpool Corporation. Most Brastemp products, including microwave ovens, are manufactured in Brazil, specifically in modern facilities located in Joinville, Manaus, and Rio Claro. Whirlpool Corporation, the global leader in home appliances, is headquartered in Benton Charter Township, Michigan, USA, and continues to manage Brastemp as its premium flagship brand in the Brazilian market.
