Granado is one of Brazil's most iconic and historic pharmaceutical companies, founded in 1870 in Rio de Janeiro by José Antônio Coxito Granado. Originally established as a pharmacy producing products from Brazilian plants, it became an official provider to the Brazilian Imperial Family.
The brand is manufactured locally in Brazil, maintaining its traditional apothecary visual identity. In 2016, the Spanish group Puig (the same owner of brands like Carolina Herrera and Paco Rabanne) acquired a minority stake in the company to help boost its international presence, however, the primary ownership and control shifted significantly when Christopher Freeman acquired the company from descendants in the 1990s. The brand continues to grow as a premium symbol of Brazilian heritage in the cosmetics industry.
