Following a major merger with Chevron in 1984, the brand's ownership structure became fragmented. In the modern era, the global rights to the Gulf brand (excluding certain territories like parts of North America) are owned by the Gulf Oil International Group, which is part of the Hinduja Group, a diversified global conglomerate headquartered in the United Kingdom. Manufacturing operations for Gulf products, including lubricants and motor oils, are distributed globally across various specialized facilities to meet regional demand. In Sweden, the brand operates through franchising and licensed partnerships, maintaining its historic presence in the automotive and energy sectors.
