Historically and through 2026, the brand remains under the ownership of the Bolton Group, a major Italian multinational corporation. Most Rio Mare products, including the Insalatissime range, are manufactured in Italy at the company's large production facility in Cermenate, which is considered one of the most advanced and largest of its kind in Europe. The brand emphasizes sustainability, sourcing its fish through programs certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).
