Chromecast is a line of digital media players developed by Google. This specific model, 'Chromecast with Google TV', was launched in late 2020 as a significant upgrade to the original Chromecast dongle, integrating a dedicated remote and a full operating system (Google TV) to replace the previously 'cast-only' interface.

The hardware is designed in the United States at Google's headquarters in Mountain View. To diversify its supply chain away from historical reliance on China, Google moved a significant portion of its Nest and Chromecast production to Thailand.
