SkinnyPop Popcorn was founded in 2010 in Skokie, Illinois, by Andy Friedman and Pam Netzky. The brand was built on the philosophy of "snacking without compromise," focusing on simple ingredients such as popcorn, sunflower oil, and salt. It quickly gained popularity as a healthier alternative in the ready-to-eat popcorn market.
In 2014, the brand became part of Amplify Snack Brands, which was later acquired by The Hershey Company in 2018 for approximately $1.6 billion. Today, SkinnyPop is a cornerstone of Hershey's North America Salient Snacks division. While primarily manufactured and distributed within the United States, its global reach continues to expand under Hershey's portfolio management.
