Ettan snus

Ettan is one of the oldest and most iconic brands in the world of Swedish snus, with a history dating back to 1822. It was created by Jacob Fredrik Ljunglöf, who revolutionized snus production by using a unique manufacturing process that significantly shortened the aging time and improved quality. This recipe, known as Ljunglöf's No. 1, became the standard for quality, which eventually led to the name "Ettan" (The Number One).

Manufacturing takes place exclusively in Sweden, adhering to the GothiaTek quality standard, which ensures low levels of harmful substances. The brand has maintained its classic tobacco-centric flavor profile for over two centuries, making it a staple in Scandinavian culture.

While originally founded by the Ljunglöf family, the brand was integrated into the Swedish Tobacco Monopoly (Svenska Tobaksmonopolet) in 1915. Today, it is owned and manufactured by Swedish Match. In late 2022, Swedish Match was acquired by Philip Morris International (PMI), a global tobacco leader, marking a significant shift in corporate ownership while preserving the brand's local Swedish production heritage.
