Gösser is one of Austria's most historic and well-known beer brands, with its roots originating at the Göss Abbey in Styria, where brewing history dates back to the 11th century. The modern brewery was founded in 1860 by Max Kober. The 'NaturRadler' is a hallmark product of the brand, blending non-alcoholic beer with natural lemon juice.
Today, Gösser is produced by Brau Union Österreich AG, which is the largest brewing concern in Austria. Since 2003, Brau Union has been a subsidiary of the Dutch brewing giant Heineken N.V. While the brand maintains its deep Austrian identity and continues to be primarily manufactured in its historic home of Leoben, Austria, its ultimate ownership and strategic direction are steered from Heineken's international headquarters in the Netherlands.
