Dacia is the primary automobile manufacturer of Romania, established in 1966 with technical assistance from Renault. Originally focused on providing affordable modern transportation for the Romanian population, the brand's first flagship model was the Dacia 1300, based on the Renault 12.

In 1999, the Romanian government privatized Dacia, leading to its acquisition by the Renault Group. This partnership transformed Dacia into a global success story, focusing on 'smart-buy' value propositions through models like the Logan, Sandero, and Duster. Today, while maintaining its headquarters and a major production hub in Mioveni, Romania, Dacia has expanded its manufacturing footprint to facilities in Tangier and Casablanca, Morocco, to meet international demand across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The brand is now a fully integrated part of the Renault Group, operating as one of its core global brands alongside Renault and Alpine. It benefits from shared engineering platforms and supply chain efficiencies while maintaining a distinct brand identity focused on simplicity and durability.
