Centrum is a globally recognized brand of multivitamins, originally established in the United States by Lederle Laboratories in the late 1970s. Over the decades, the brand became a staple in the dietary supplement market, known for formulas tailored to specific age groups and health needs. Manufacturing occurs in various global locations, including major facilities in the United States, Europe, and Asia, depending on the local market and regulatory requirements.
Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major pharmaceutical mergers. It was originally a Pfizer product after the acquisition of Wyeth (which had acquired Lederle). In 2019, Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) combined their consumer healthcare businesses into a joint venture. In 2022, this joint venture was spun off into an independent company named Haleon. Haleon, headquartered in Weybridge, United Kingdom, is now the ultimate owner of Centrum and manages its global distribution and marketing.
