Astra Art is a specialized vegetable fat spread or margarine variant within the Astra portfolio, specifically formulated for baking and cake decorating. The brand traces its roots back to the Unilever portfolio, which established Astra as a household name in various markets, most notably in South Asia, for its nutritional fortification and versatility in the kitchen.

In 2018, as part of a global strategic shift, Unilever sold its spreads division to KKR, lead to the formation of Upfield. Today, Astra is produced and marketed by Upfield, which focuses specifically on plant-based food products. In Sri Lanka, where the brand has a dominant presence, it is manufactured locally through Upfield’s regional operations, maintaining its position as a staple ingredient for both home cooks and professional bakers.
