Tazo Wild Sweet Orange is a popular herbal tea infusion recognized for its vibrant citrus notes. The brand was originally established in 1994 by Steven Smith in Portland, Oregon, USA. Known for its 'tea-mastery' branding and unique flavor profiles, Tazo quickly became a staple in the specialty tea market.
In 1999, Starbucks Coffee Company acquired Tazo for $8.1 million and integrated the brand into its global café network. However, in 2017, Starbucks sold the Tazo brand to the multinational consumer goods giant Unilever for approximately $384 million. Today, Tazo is part of the ekaterra group, which was formerly Unilever's tea division but was sold to CVC Capital Partners in 2022. While the brand originated in the United States, its ingredients are sourced globally, and manufacturing occurs in multiple facilities around the world to meet distribution demands.
