Gorreana Black Tea

Gorreana is Europe's oldest tea plantation, located on the island of São Miguel in the Azores archipelago, Portugal. Founded in 1883 by Ermelinda Pacheco Gago da Câmara, the estate has remained a family-owned business for five generations.

The tea is grown in the mineral-rich volcanic soil of the Azores, benefiting from the Atlantic climate which allows for organic cultivation without the need for pesticides. Gorreana produces high-quality black and green teas using traditional methods passed down through the centuries. Today, the plantation is both a working farm and a significant cultural landmark in Portugal, maintaining a heritage of artisan tea production that is unique within the European Union.
